Clear out old energies and invite abundance and new beginnings with this herbal alternative to commercial carpet powders that has no harmful chemicals and doubles as a ritual “floor wash”for carpets. As a bonus, this powder eliminates pet odors as well!
While I don’t really believe that the year actually starts “anew” until the Spring, I still regard the changing of the calendar year as a time of ritual. Like many across the globe, I believe that it’s a time that calls for clearing out the old so we can welcome the new.
Having just moved into a new space in November (where the previous tenants also had multiple pets), it was already time for me to push up my witchy sleeves and perform a cleansing on the space so I could truly settle in. While I was overjoyed to once again be in a carpeted home after going without for 2 years, the carpets were deeply in need of an energetic and physical clean sweep.
Years ago, after the death of my wonderful canine friend, I wanted to cleanse the energy of my dearly departed (and not that fresh smelling) old buddy from the home by way of the carpets. No matter how clean we were and how often we vacuumed and shampooed the carpets, there was still a bit of unavoidable pet smell that comes along with the heavy dander shed by a 90lb shepherd mix. At the time I developed a recipe based on my ritual death salt- as cleansing my pet’s spirit from the home was part of the full ritual I did for him- which has now been adjusted and polished to be used as a cleansing ritual that will purify and release old energies while attracting prosperity and peace to your space.

Once mixed, sprinkle the powder on your carpets and leave for at least a day. This powder will absorb odor and the herbs will purge stagnation and microbes while leaving behind a beautiful, refreshing scent. The ingredients can be adjusted based on what you have access to, and the powder itself will help refresh your carpet while leaving behind no residues or industrial hormone receptors.
Note: This formula includes fine powder; if you are vacuuming a large area, you may have to clean your vacuum filter during the process to maintain proper suction as the powder accumulates.
